Red Cedar

Connecting Lansing with MSU. Adding housing options for all ages. Setting a new standard for sustainable growth.

In 2023, the 36-acre Red Cedar Development debuted as one of Lansing’s most transformational projects to date. Located at 203 S. Clippert St. along Michigan Avenue, this dynamic mixed-use development bridges Lansing, East Lansing and Michigan State University — reinvigorating a key corridor with housing, hospitality and economic opportunity.

Today, the $260 million development features student and market-rate apartments, two hotels, an assisted living facility, restaurants, retail space and trails connecting to the Lansing River Trail. By transforming a long-underutilized floodplain, Red Cedar Development not only adds vibrancy and housing options, but its development created 300 new full-time jobs.

Environmentally, the site is designed to retain and naturally filter millions of gallons of stormwater, reducing pollution in the Red Cedar and Grand Rivers. The result: a cleaner, healthier riverfront for residents to walk, fish, kayak and explore — shaping a more connected, sustainable future for the region.
