Facade Improvement

Building an inviting, economically resilient city—one storefront, one project, and one investment at a time.

Curb appeal is just the beginning

A new sign or fresh coat of paint may seem like a small adjustment — but these changes leave a lasting economic impact. This fiscal year, the City of Lansing has dedicated $175,000 in grant funding to help Lansing businesses transform their storefronts through the Façade Improvement Program. The goal? Not just to upgrade buildings and support local businesses, but to uplift entire blocks.

This program offers design assistance and reimbursement for businesses to enhance their exterior facades. From safety enhancements to stylish new signage and structural fixes, this program goes beyond aesthetics to invest in community pride and economic momentum.

A more attractive business draws more foot traffic. A revitalized building increases property values. A beautiful block inspires the next one to follow. And before you know it, a street becomes a destination. With every new awning, fresh window, or updated brick front, Lansing becomes a little more vibrant, and a lot more resilient.
